Hooray for Ellen!

February 3rd, 2006 · No Comments

I am so loving The Ellen DeGeneres show! Ellen has always been someone who has managed to make me laugh and keep me entertained. I even watched Mr. Wrong on the big screen!

The show has a light, infectious vibe coursing through it. Ellen’s monologue that ends in a dance always manages to pick me up! Yeah! Shake that booty! The fact that her humor is self-deprecating and that she shows genuine love for her momma add so much to the charm of the show.

Now, if only the one doing the voice over for etc second avenue can get the pronunciation of “Degeneres” right. ;)

Ellen is shown on etc 2nd avenue, Monday to Friday, 8pm.

Hooray for er!

February 3rd, 2006 · No Comments

etc second avenue is showing a sort-of er marathon today. They picked up from after John Carter’s stint in rehab which puts it right about the 7th or 8th season.

Watching Greene, Carter, Benton, Corday, Luka, Abby, Chen, Malucci and even Weaver and Romano brings me back to the time when I was obssessed with the show. I remember they started showing the first season on newly-minted ABC 5 back in my last year of high school. The day after it showed, some of my friends and I would get together and talk about Peter, Doug, Mark and Carter like they were our friends.

er was fast-paced and packed yet with all the human emotion that makes for a satisfying hour of television. I don’t buy into the thinking that ensemble, procedural dramas like this show should not delve into the personal lives and loves of its characters. That look into their characters’ lives brings a lot of texture to the things that happen in the show.

er is shown on etc 2nd avenue, Monday to Friday, 11pm. Channel 53 on SkyCable.

Pinoy Big Brother Auditions & Rumors

December 12th, 2005 · 6 Comments

So the rumors might be right! The next Pinoy Big Brother this February will be a Celebrity Edition and then in the summer, it will be a Teen Edition. Got a text message from a very reliable source that auditions are already held for both editions. In fact, for interested teenagers (18-19 years old), you may audition tomorrow. Just go to ABS and “bring your pictures: close-up, medium, and full body.”

Personally, I’d rather have only one PBB season a year and featuring regular contestants. There’s a thing called overkill, you know. But then again, we never know. I mean it’s only in the Philippines that Big Brother is seen more as a charity and talent show than a reality competition. :)

ABC has just announced that it is cancelling the show Alias, the series that launched Jennifer Garner’s career as a kick-ass leading lady. It is still airing its fifth season in the US. The order for the complete 22 episodes will be fulfilled when it goes back on air in January.

You can read the ABC Press Statement via E! Online’s message boards.

“Lost” Death

November 10th, 2005 · No Comments

The episode in which another Lost character will die is airing in the US. The second season is yet to start airing in any of the channels here inthe Philippines. In fact, Studio 23 just started airing the first season last Monday, November 7.

I’m tyring to keep myself from going through message boards and spoiler sites for wanting to keep it such a surprise. Although, a few hours down the road, I may be singing a different tune.

Meanwhile, here’s a link to the New York Times article on the weird relationship between TV gossip writers/columnists and show producers. It features an interview with my favorite TV Diva Kristin Veitch of E! Online’s Watch with Kristin.

Noel Crane is in da House

November 1st, 2005 · No Comments

Well, not exactly. Scott Foley, who played Noel Crane in the television show Felicity, is the guest on this week’s episode of House on AXN.

Scott is now more known as Jennifer Garner’s (Alias) ex-husband. After his stint on Felicity Scott has appeared on several shows but none has taken off like his previous hit. It’s been a while since I got to watch him onscreen so this should be a treat for me. (I’ve always rooted for Noel versus Ben even though that decision just screws up the whole premise of Felicity.)

House is aired by AXN Asia on Tuesday night at 10 pm (Manila, HK, Singapore, China time).
