Google has released a beta of Google Video which allows users to search for video clips and TV shows on the web. One of its initial offerings is Chris Rock’s “Everybody Hates Chris” a show from the US network UPN.
For now, service is free but this may be shaping up to be a paid service later on. To prevent piracy, video streams from the site and cannot be saved on the viewer’s hard drives.
According to this article, they are also in talks with more broadcasters to have more shows available.
What does this mean for couch potatoes like me? Probably nothing. I’m a purist when it comes to my beloved medium. I still want to see it the way it is meant to be.
