Well, not exactly. Late Night with Conan O’Brien’s Thursday show will be entirely U2.
NEW YORK – In his 12 years in charge of booking musical guests on Conan O’Brien’s “Late Night,” Jim Pitt always listed U2 and Johnny Cash as the dream artists he’d tried but never succeeded in getting.
He lost his chance with the late Cash, but the U2 dream is coming true Thursday in a major way.
O’Brien will turn over his entire show to the band, which is in New York for seven sold-out engagements at Madison Square Garden.
“We were able to offer them something to feel enough like an event for them to do the show,” Pitt said. “It’s basically `Late Night with Conan O’Brien,’ the U2 edition.”

I’ve always found Chris Rock funny. Watched the premiere of his new show Everybody Hates Chris via Google Video. (An earlier post here.)
By now, you’ve probably heard that this is a Wonder Years type of show but with a pre-teen Chris in 1982 Brooklyn. Rock does the Kevin Arnold bit, narrating the show. Instead of the turbulent ’60s, Chris goes to Junior High in an Italian neighborhood where he is the only black kid. He has to deal being the eldest of three children, a younger brother who’s taller than him and the yougest girl who’s determined to get him into trouble. They have a mom who has a lot of words for whoopin’ ass (”I will slap your name out of the phone book and call Ma Bell to tell her I did it.”) and a dad who knows exactly how much is wasted on everything. (”That’s 49 cents worth of spilt milk drippin’ all over my table. Somebody’s gonna drink this milk.”)
The cast is great and props to whoever is responsible for casting Tyler James Williams in the lead plus Terry Crews (The Longest Yard) and Tichina Arnold (Big Momma’s House) as the parents.
For the premiere, the use of Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney’s Ebony and Ivory during the fight scene had me laughing out loud! Can’t wait for the next episodes! No wonder this is trouncing NBC’s flagging Joey.
Everybody hates Chris airs on UPN, Thursdays 8pm et/pt.

Caught Jennifer Garner on Leno the other night. After being so careful about revealing the gender of her baby, she inadvertently said “she” when referring to it when telling her story about the Hurricane marathon.
Not that I particularly care about a Ben Affleck offspring. This was the first time in a long while that I enjoyed watching JG. Didn’t really like her even from Felicity days. (I was in love with her ex-hubby Scott Foley then.) Only watched Alias because it had a kick-ass premise. (Past tense cause I’m no longer hooked to it as before.)

This is just a quick post on the k-drama Hotelier being shown on GMA -7.
It’s the end already! I only got to watch an episode two weeks ago and the one for today. I really wanted to see the dubbed version even though I have a copy of the series thanks to Luthien and Camille.
I’m such a TV geek.

Google has released a beta of Google Video which allows users to search for video clips and TV shows on the web. One of its initial offerings is Chris Rock’s “Everybody Hates Chris” a show from the US network UPN.
For now, service is free but this may be shaping up to be a paid service later on. To prevent piracy, video streams from the site and cannot be saved on the viewer’s hard drives.
According to this article, they are also in talks with more broadcasters to have more shows available.
What does this mean for couch potatoes like me? Probably nothing. I’m a purist when it comes to my beloved medium. I still want to see it the way it is meant to be.

INXS has a new frontman and his name is JD Fortune.
I have to admit that I was very fascinated by this show. Although I was not able to watch each and every show because of my schedule, I try to keep abreast of what was happening every week. I follow the rockstar blogs on MSN Spaces and make sure that I at least get to see a little bit of each week.

So I was not able to watch the Emmys. I got caught in a meeting and dinner with friends. Saying that, here are my comments on some of the winners:
Best Supporting Actor (Comedy) – Brad Garrett, Everybody Loves Raymond
This is Brad Garrett’s third win for his character Robert. I love Brad on the show and whenever he guests on the talk shows. He’s always entertaining to watch. As it is, there are talks of a spinoff featuring his character. Jeremy Piven was the hot favorite for this award. As much as I love Garrett, I was rooting for Jeffrey Tambor. I love my Arrested guys!

I watched the last episode of season 1 of Veronica Mars again and it reminded me so much why this show is one of the best shows currently on air.
It goes without saying that Kristen Bell as the title character carries the show with aplomb. Thorugh all the things that she has gone through and has done on the show, you cannot help but share in her emotions. She embodies the character so much that you feel attached to what is happening and what will happen next.
I love the fact that they do not characterize Veronica as an uber-good character. Her best friend Lily Kane, whose murder is the sustaining mystery of the premiere season, is a beeyotch, one you would not consider to be a role model for teens her age. They are unapologetic in dealing with topics such as rape, adultery and such with such panache that it does not appear to be vulgar and gauche. Just part of good storytelling.

It’s the night of the Emmys. I’m pulling for Arrested Development to win but the behemoth that is Desperate Housewives is unstoppable. For the life of me, I hope this is the last time that we see Will and Grace up in lights. They have outlived their heyday and should have changed the title to Jack and Karen seasons ago. (My apologies to Kaka who is the very epitome of Grace.)
Aaaargh! Why did I have to go to work while it’s on?!?
